ExtenTrac® Elite is a patented, FDA cleared, non-surgical multi-purpose therapeutic device for the treatment of lower back pain and sciatica from herniated, bulging, and degenerative discs. It is designed to relieve pressure on spinal structures that may be causing lower back pain through its patented 3D spine positioning system.

The ExtenTrac® Difference

At the heart of ExtenTrac® Elite, is its patented M3D® System, a three dimensional spine positioning system enabling:

  • M3DTM(Multi-Directional Disc Dynamics) - disc decompression during active dynamic Range Of Motion and manually applied Mobilization of the patient. This Manual Therapy Range of Motion may also be performed without concomitant dynamic long-axis decompression.
  • M3D® (Multi-Directional Disc Decompression) - disc decompression in which the patient remains pre-positioned in combinations of flexion or extension, lateral flexion and axial patient positioning.

At the heart of the M3D® System, is its articulating Leg and Lumbar Assemblies providing precise and automated 3 Dimensional spine positioning and disc localization. This breakthrough technology provides opportunities to implement a wide range of "True Hands-On*", and "One-On-One", manual therapeutic procedures separate and distinct from fully automated fixed patient position - linear decompression.

The distinct clinical advantage of M3D® technology is the application of a wide array of therapeutic treament options, in pain relieving, compensating - antalgia postures. Utilizing manually controlled, power driven, articulating lumbar and leg assemblies, the precise application of force and applied distractive angle is achievable.

To ignore antalgia pain postures and apply therapeutic unloading in only the axial or straight patient posture, may elicit less favorable treatment outcomes.

Extentrac® Elite truly represents a breakthrough in freedom and flexibility in patient care.

Freedom and Versatility in Patient Care

Matching Treatment to Diagnosis

M3D® (Multi-Directional Disc DynamicsTM) is a first-of-its-kind revolutionary spine positioning therapy. Unlike linear powered tables, which limit the direction of applied distraction to the axial, the ExtenTrac® Elite multi-purpose therapeutic device allows the application of distraction, coupled with flexion, extension, vertical-gravitational traction, lateral flexion or rotational circumduction either manually applied, through automated controls, in fixed positions or coupled with dynamic mobilization.

Unique to ExtenTrac® Elite, is its patented and separate Lumbar Support System Decompression System which enables the simultaneous application of a centripetal fulcrum force on the lumbar spine during simultaneous decompression and mobilization through power driven repositioning. Statically positioned or dynamically driven, effective spine translational gliding is achieved with direct radius changes to the lumbar spine lordosis. Outward movement effects extension, tautening of the posterior longitudinal ligament and centripetal disc pressure helping to restore the lumbar lordosis, approximate posterior disc space, and during repetitive movement, produce localized mobilization of spinal joints through painless repetitive disc "pumping" and passive lumbar support ranges of motion in the Z-Plane (Human Coordinate System). Translation changes to the lumbar support in the supine position help facilitate the local para-spinal muscles of the patient to relax during applied pulling force on the spine. An integral part of the M3D system is positioning the spine into flexion or extension, prior to the application of automated decompression. Cyclical elevation or translation of the lumbar support (mobiliztion) affects the scaring and fibrosis of hypo-mobile facet joints and articular capsules allowing increased blood flow to ischemic areas. This movement helps restore vertebral joint motion and restore hypomobile joints allowing restoration of synovial fluid flow.

This treatment versatility and functionality extends to the ability to implement evidence-based and precise spine positioning and application of distractive force, with "True Hands-OnTM" palpation of spinal structures during treatment.

Acute patients in severe myospasm unable to tolerate supine positioning, may require treatment options that afford flexion-distraction postures in the prone position. The M3D® System enables the freedom and flexibility of delivery of evidence-based treatment protocols in more exacting, anatomically correct, and pain relieving positions, prior to and during the application of distractive force. Results demonstrate a more rapid symptomatic improvement and return of neurological function, while delivering treatment in half the time of standard treatment devices.
